RSS Sirentide Sound (BB-72, Sirentide-class) and RSS Black Hills (BB-67, Black Hills-class) lay in broadsides at a practice target while on maneuvers at the Spiderweb Formations.
Black Hills-class Fast Battleships are not just powerful warships, but also in their way, a statement of the Republic's ability to put resources into naval construction. Like their successors, the Black Hills combine high speed, powerful armament, and heavy armor in one package. But unlike the Sirentides, they are built completely with Phoenix Republic technology. A given, since they were designed and built before the inception of the Combined Fleet Program.
The Sirentide-class Fast Battleships are among the most formidable warships ever launched by human hands. These warships were the pinnacle of the Common Combined Fleet Development Program held between the Phoenix Republic and Federal Sakurajima, which resulted in a number of hulls suitable for each country's needs. The design harmonizes aspects of both navies' shipbuilding methodologies and beckons no compromise, featuring heavy armor, powerful armament, and high speed in one package.
The Phoenix Republic Navy operates four of these ships: Sirentide Sound; Great Divide; New Columbia; and Azure Coast. A further eight are under construction. Five are in service with the Federal Sakurajima Navy: Zipang, Yashima, Akitsukuni, Mizuho, and Nihon. Three are undergoing final planning.
